HoboSim's Revival!
Hobo Sim is back!
After a long year, and many hours of not knowing what to be doing with my free time, I have decided to pick up Hobo Sim and give it some much needed attention. This update will bring no new features to the game itself, but there have been some MAJOR changes to the back-end.
So, its been a year. Whats new?
Most simply put, Batch is an EXTREMELY simple scripting language, and if I plan on adding many more features and items to the game (which I do), I'd would eventually be forced to re-write the game in a whole new language, something that's modern and can better handle our project. So that's exactly what I did.
The switch from Batch to Python was honestly MUCH easier than I first intended and only about a week after I decided to pick up development of the game again, we are basically exactly where we left off with the Batch version, however I plan on adding even more smaller features before fully releasing 0.07, so for now 0.07 Pre-Release will be available for you all to download and try out.
Okay, so the game is getting coded in a new language, cool. What does this mean for me?
Hopefully, the end goal of switching to a new language or in general doing a re-write of the game would allow for much faster implementation of features to the game, and I mostly plan on trying to make my spaghetti code somewhat more readable and more modular before adding any new features to the game, which is why I'm releasing this version now, as very little will change with the gameplay for the next few weeks. Besides that however, I hope you all are excited to see whats in store for this little game of mine!
